In Lesson 1 – We looked at things around the school. We were looking for things that could be made better, and we made a list. Then we discussed it. Some of the things mentioned are listed below:

  • Better organization of the playgrounds. Specifically:
The ECC playground is next to the UES playground but is unavailable to the large children.
The Dinosaur area has a fun playground, but it is inaccessible to students normally.
The Leopard is not usable by UES students.
  • Cleanliness: There is still a problem with trash being littered on the ground.
  • Shade: there should be more shady areas for hot days near the playground.

In Lesson 2 – We took time to write about one of the issues above. 1 short paragraph was asked for.

In lesson 4 – We discussed things we love int he world. Things that are awesome. We chose one of these to write about. Our focus: how can this thing make the world better?
Some children chose their parents, and were asking people to show the positive attributes their parents had.
Some children a video game, and were trying to convince people that proper use of that game could help children learn better.
Some people chose a country and listed out the positive things about that country, then focused on how the world could be better by copying these positives.

Lesson 5,6 and 7 were lessons about pacing and editing.
We decided to follow these basic steps:

  • Write. Don’t worry about spelling or grammar. (By yourself)
  • Read. Read the writing to yourself or to a friend. (by yourself or with 1 partner)
  • Fix. Fix on the paper any mistakes you and your friend found. (By yourself or with 1 partner)
  • Go back to Write & continue.

Lesson 8 – We discussed our audience. and how to think about them as we are writing.

Lesson 9 – We discussed editing techniques. How you don’t have to stop what you are doing but may edit things as you go.

Also in Lesson 9 we discussed the layout of a Writing article
