A Review from the Parent Student Handbook:

Starting this cycle we will review the Homework Policy as written in the Parent and Student Handbook.

Purpose of Homework

The purpose of Homework is to:

  • Consolidate, reinforce and extend skills and understanding of work covered in class.
  • Provide an opportunity for students to work on summative assessments.
  • Provide training for students in planning and organizing time.
  • Support students to establish habits of study, concentration and self-discipline.
  • Allow students to progress towards becoming more independent learners.
  • Support students to develop a range of skills in identifying and using information resources.
  • Reaffirm the role of parents as partners in education.

Role of Parents:

Parents can consider doing the following to support their children in their learning:

  • Take an active interest in homework and check that homework has been set.
  • Encourage and support their child to complete homework.
  • Ensure that time is set aside for homework every day.
  • Provide, where possible, a dedicated place for homework.
  • Support their child to balance the time spent between homework and recreational activities.
  • Talk to teachers about any homework problems including the nature of the homework and their child’s approach to the homework.
  • Inform the school of any domestic or extracurricular activities to be taken into consideration when homework is being set or submitted.
  • Contact the subject teacher if their child is experiencing difficulties with the homework requirements of a specific subject. If difficulties are being experienced in more than one subject, the child’s classroom teacher should be contacted.

A Review from the Parent Student Handbook:

Starting this cycle we will review the Daily Operations as written in the Parent and Student Handbook.

Sickness and Emergency

  • If a student is sick at school, the school will promptly inform parents so that necessary steps may be taken to help ensure his/her well-being.
  • The school nurse will administer first aid but will not prescribe any medication.
  • Medical emergency procedure
    • In case of a medical emergency your child will be taken to The Airport Hospital. Please make sure the office has all your medical and insurance information.
  • Administering prescription medication
    • If your child has been prescribed medication that needs to be taken at school it is required that you provide the school nurse with the following information:
      • Child’s name and class
      • Parent name and contact information
      • Medical name of prescription
      • Amount and frequency of administration of medication
      • Time of last administration
      • Start and end dates of administering the medication
  • All students must participate in Physical Education (P.E.) or any other school activities including recesses and breaks unless they have a valid doctor’s note explaining the reason for their non-participation.

At Home

We all want the children to stay healthy, and to remain that way. So please before you bring your sick child to school, think about if they could infect the other students in their class. Also keep your phone handy through the day, as the school may have to call you if the child’s condition changes.
