1st Quarter Vocab.

The following is the words from the first 5 weeks of class.

Week 1 words

  • Hassled: (slang) bullied
  • Tipped off (tip off): to tell, or inform
  • Motorized: moves with a motor.
  • Advice: Good information, or suggestion.
  • Medium-priced: Not expensive, not cheap.
  • Couple: 2 or 3, a few.
  • Learn the hard way: (slang) to learn something, by making mistakes, and not listening to others.
  • Fort: A building for the army.
  • Argument: A speaking fight.
  • Secret weapon: (slang) A person or thing that you can use to get what you want that nobody knows about.
  • Hook somebody up: (slang) To get something for that person.
  • Charity: a company that helps the poor.
  • Ended up: (slang) had to go to.
  • Never let someone hear the end of something: (slang) To always hassle or tease somebody about something.
  • Needy: A Poor person
  • Slushie machine: A machine used to make frozen soda drinks.
  • Yams: Sweet Potatoes.
  • Platipus: an animal that is a mammal, but lays eggs and has a duck’s bill.
  • Platipi: more than one platipus
  • Webbed feet: feet with skin between the toes to help swim faster.
  • Especially: more than most
  • Rodents: more, weasels and similar small mammals.
  • Spike: sharp pointed part
  • Ankle: where the foot and leg connects
  • Monotreme: a mammal that lays eggs.
  • Echidna: Spiny anteater
  • Bill: a that beak of a bird, like that of a duck
  • Habitat: where an animal lives
  • Diet: what something eats often.
  • Lifespan: how long something can live.
